Description:

This painting probably needs no explanation, unless I haven’t achieved decent likenesses of the two principals. That’s Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, with the late Charlie Watts on drums partially visible in the background. The Stones are back on tour this year, and I’ll be seeing them perform live for the first time. I’m really looking forward to it and I couldn’t resist doing a painting of them in advance.

They are depicted here as they were more than 20 years ago, at their 2003 show in Glasgow.

I’ve done several paintings of rock musicians performing live and I know I’ll do more. These are a lot of fun to do. The set now includes Pete Townshend of The Who in “One With the Music,” the Fab Four in “Beatles on the Rooftop,” and Bono and Edge of U2 in “With Or Without You.”
