My newest painting features a lovely home, a refuge from the elements, precariously poised on the waters of Quidi Vidi Gut in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

My latest painting depicts a colorful backyard scene of decaying elements of the past, including an overturned boat and a rusting double-flywheel stationary engine, amidst stacks of firewood and greenery.

It was a sunny Labor Day weekend three weeks ago when we visited Quidi Vidi Gut, and in a fast turnaround, I already have a new painting done. This is unusual because I more often work from photos that I took months to years previously.
