This small diptych (a painting in two parts) features closeups of two puffins. It was done on request for Christmas, using photos from a June 2021 expedition to the puffin colony in Elliston, Newfoundland. I used other photos from that set to create my earlier and larger painting, “An Improbability of Puffins.”
I worked on both sides of the diptych simultaneously on a single sheet of parchment, as shown in the photo. The two have subsequently been split off from each other and separately framed, one for each of two siblings.
