Description:
Salvage – pronounced Salv – AGE by those who live there – is a small community on the Eastport peninsula of Newfoundland. At the last census, less than 200 people lived there. It’s a fishing village that was founded by the Beothuks, and then occupied by Basque fishermen during the 17th century. It now hosts a three-day literary festival in mid-August called Winterset in Summer.
I love painting boats and reflections in water, and so this was an absolute delight to paint and went quickly.
My thanks to my wife Susan who took the reference photo several weeks ago, while she attended Winterset as an invited speaker/author.
