Description:
This rocky beach is covered with makeshift slipways used to pull the boats to higher ground, and thousands of rocks and stones of varying sizes and colors. In between those rocks are an untold miscellany of items discarded by humans or tossed up by the ocean. I was tempted to call this “Seawrack,” which means the various things that the sea leaves on the shore, except I used that title already. Another working title was “Ocean of Memories.” But I settled on “Sally’s Cove” because that is the name of the town where this beach is located. There’s a population of only 20 there at last count. It’s a small fishing community on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland, in the gorgeous Gros Morne National Park.
