Description:
The boathouse, dock and miscellany depicted haven’t seen a lick of paint in ages – I think that’s what compelled me to paint this. Ramea is a small town located on Northwest Island off the south coast of Newfoundland. By small, its population is estimated to be about 500 and declining due to the effects of the cod moratorium.

My thanks once again to Leslie Rourke who kindly provided the reference photo from her circumnavigation tour last fall aboard the (now sunken) cruise ship MV Explorer.

By the way, some people have asked me what I am going to paint now that the Green Gables House® painting is done and the stamps have been released by Canada Post and Japan Post. That’s a misunderstanding – that painting was completed in 2001, and many of the paintings on this website came after that one. Including, obviously, this one.
