Description:
The rain has departed, the sky mostly cleared, but mist is still rolling over the surface of the Atlantic Ocean with thicker fog visible in the distance. The rocks on the cliff face have been weathered to show myriad colors with greenery poking through here and there. Sea birds cluster on the two sea stacks but they were too small to paint.
This is a view from the Skerwink Trail near Port Rexton, on the Bonavista Peninsula in Newfoundland. I left the tiny person atop the cliff on the right to provide perspective of how tall the rocky coastline of Newfoundland can be. I contemplated titles that reflect a lonely person contemplating life or the magnificence of nature, but settled on “Rolling Mist” as the one that sounded and suited this painting best.
