Description:

The title of this painting means “sunset” in the native Hawaiian language. The view overlooks Pauoa Bay in Mauna Lani on the Big Island of Hawai’i. It’s taken from a viewpoint on the property of the Fairmont Orchid, which is a favorite destination of mine. An earlier painting titled Hawaiian Snorkel was based on photos that I’d taken underwater on that same bay
