Description:
The first operation under ether took place in 1846 at the Etherdome of the Bulfinch Building at the MGH in Boston. Dr. William Morton administered the anesthesia, and Dr. John C. Warren removed a tumour from the jaw of patient Gilbert Abbott. This unusual view of that historic building is taken from the Endocrinology research laboratory on Wellman 5.
