Description:
I quite enjoy painting colorful boats and reflections, and this painting certainly had that and more.
This scene is from Bay Bulls, a fishing community south of St. John’s, Newfoundland. According to the Encyclopedia of Newfoundland and Labrador, the town was originally called “Bay of Bulls.” The “bulls” is believed to have meant the Common Dovekie, a bird locally known as the “bull bird” or “ice bird,” which frequents Newfoundland waters in wintertime.
Bay Bulls is where many iceberg and whale-watching tours originate for visitors to St. John’s.
