It was near the end of the season and these discarded buoys caught my eye. A Newfoundland scene, you think? I could pretend it is, but instead this is another international painting. I took the reference photos several years ago on the beach of the Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda.

Working titles for this painting included “Off Season” and “No Swimming,” but “One of the Buoys” came to me when I was nearly finished, and I thought that one suited it best.
