Description:
This is the beautiful and historic Green Gables House®, built in the mid-1800s in Cavendish on Prince Edward Island. It was once the home of cousins of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s grandfather, and their farm inspired the setting for her famous novel, Anne of Green Gables®. It is now the site of a museum devoted to Anne of Green Gables® and the works of Lucy Maud Montgomery.

In June 2008, this painting appeared on a special issue stamp (with first day covers, post cards and souvenir sheets) from Canada Post and on an historic stamp issued jointly by Japan Post and Canada Post. It also appeared in promotional materials associated with a special Anne of Green Gables coin released in April 2008 by the Royal Canadian Mint.

Limited Edition Print – Matted with Canadian Stamps

Additional Information:
This limited edition set will be signed and numbered by the artist, and double-matted together with the pair of Canadian stamps. The image of the painting is full-size at 10.5 x 15 inches; with the matting, the full dimensions will be approximately 15 x 21 inches. The close-up image shows the pair of stamps which will be inset into the matte.

Note that Canada Post cropped the painting for use in the stamp, and changed the foreground to resemble the typical reddish soil of Prince Edward Island. As well, there was a fire at Green Gables House® a few years ago, and the roof was replaced with dark green, quite unlike the tan roof that it had at the time I did this painting.

The set will be extremely limited to 20 in number due to the availability of the Japanese stamps.
