Description:
This colorful scene caught my eye during a trip to Trinity, Newfoundland in August 2021. It has so many elements that I love to paint, including reflections in water. The man on the far right is demonstrating how to fillet a fresh catch of cod. The bright blue-green below him is created by the remnants that he’s tossed into the water for other fish to eat.
Two other paintings of Trinity that I’ve done include “Calm Reflection” and “Duo in Trinity.” I still have many more photos of Trinity, Port Rexton, Bonavista, and nearby places that I may end up using for paintings.
Lisa Samways took the main reference photo, but I also needed several other photos I’d taken to capture different details of the scene and the colors.
