Description:
As soon as I saw this building, precariously poised on a rock, I knew that I had to paint it. This is from Tilting, a community on Fogo Island, which is off the northern coast of Newfoundland. I’m grateful to Leslie Rourke for sharing hundreds of photos that she’d taken on a circumnavigation tour of Newfoundland during September. This tour was probably the last Newfoundland circumnavigation made by the cruise ship MV Explorer before it struck an iceberg and sank in the Antarctic in November. The MV Explorer now lies under 1500 metres of water, while this building still stands slightly above sea level.
