“Peacemaker Down” features a 1953 war plane crash

My latest painting “Peacemaker Down” depicts the unusual subject of a B-36 bomber that crashed on Newfoundland’s rugged coastline during a reconnaissance mission in 1953. Nowadays every bit of plane wreckage would be recovered, reconstructed, and analyzed in detail. But this was 1953, the site was almost inaccessible, and the wreckage was left in situ as a memorial to the lost crew.
