The scene of this beautiful and blinding sunset is Point Lance, Newfoundland. It’s a small town of just 121 people, located near Cape St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve, on the southwestern arm of the Avalon Peninsula. Now abandoned, the old building was once the home of Esther Mooney’s grandmother, and the garden is where Esther’s mother played while growing up.
Every painting poses challenges – which is what make it especially interesting to me – and with this one it was the peeling paint and the diffracted light from the setting sun.
My thanks to Esther for sharing her reference photo.
